in regards to the local co-op, I saw a PS4 stream from the devs and the second player has the option to either use their own character (started from scratch or from their save game as long as it's on that system) or they can play a "henchmen" which is a new character that's leveled to the host, similar to the "shadow bro" if you've played double dragon neon.
